Dust extraction for Classic Dental

Dust Extraction: Dental Lab

Case Study Overview

Classic Dental, a premier facility in North America in the dental lab industry contacted Eurovac with a dust problem. In the process of manufacturing dentures, veneers and other such items dust is created when sanding and sculpting these items. Classic Dental was previously using small shop vacs at each work-station which were not industrial and as a result were breaking down, not capturing dust at the source, and interrupting production. Eurovac therefore proposed and installed one large industrial highly filtrated central system throughout the facility. Once incorporated along with an automatic slide gate system for turning airflow on/off at the workstation the problem was solved.

Dust extraction for Classic Dental

Challenge

  • Eliminate dust during the production of various items at each workstation throughout the entire dental lab
  • Incorporate an automatic on/off system at the workstation to ensure ease of use and to maximize airflow and efficiency.
  • Replace unreliable, small vacuums with one large central system.
  • Quick disconnect compression couplings for tube, bends and fittings were used for ease of installation and future system maintenance.
  • Slide gates with either a knee operated on/off gate valve or manual slide gate were incorporated into the central system.

Solution

  • A 50HP high vacuum system was installed complete with a 27” pre-separator to remove the majority of the dust and a 42” 6 cartridge filter separator complete with pulse jet cleaning to ensure minimal maintenance and maximum airflow.

Impact

  • After the system was installed the dust was eliminated.
  • Production ran interrupted as a result of one properly sized, properly filtered central vacuum system.
